I dunno about holding/sorting/sitting on a donut, but are these not priced the same as they were a few YEARS ago?    Yes

Kinda trups the idea they sat on them only to haul outta the back room and cash in with an inflated price.  :-X

Yeah if they truly are the last of the last, I personally would hang on to them for a year or so when the rest of the market prices go up, because they are going too and sell them in a year or so for 389.00 it would be well worth it and they would sell if they are somewhat nice.......There is something people love about getting that cosmoline soaked, salt mine fresh, imported sks, vs some gunbroker / local trade deal....even if its the same gun.

Sure, but maybe less was paid for this batch from a different broker/exporter. All told, the market is currently saturated with these, GunBroker/auctions, private sales, some shops still have them in inventory, it is kinda hard to ask for more money for the same old boring song and dance.

But, if history repeats it's self, these big "last of import" sales, usually precede winds of change. Quite possibly, there is something else in the pipeline, maybe these just need to move along to make room or free up extra capital, increase company free cash. But, then again, if nothing was in the pipeline, sitting on them is always a last ditch option, then you can wait for the market to clear out some and raise the prices, and increase profit.

Yup, unfortunate but very true.

I've been reading their bs for years, "Get them NOW! We found a very small batch!"

Horse ****, all about money.

It's like the Romanian SKS's, released to us in the early 2000's correct? Then why do half have the early 1980's Century import mark while half have modern? Lol..

They sit on guns, always have and always will.

Dracos are another example. Atlantic has been selling them on and off for a while now, always in and out of stock with big blue letters: "We found a very small batch, limited quantity!"

I hate to interrupt the thread hijack, but....

The video shows a box of 7,xxx,xxx (7 mil) being unpacked, so these aren't ghosts or letter guns.

They look pretty good.  Matching (and cleaning rod) is not guaranteed.  Only one recent review up on the Classic site:

Quote4/28/15

I bought my SKS towards the end of the last batch that Classic had, and while it is far from beautiful (there was a bit of rust and pitting on the metal under the edge of the wood stock on the magazine and trigger group), I was still very happy to receive an all numbers matching rifle from Factory 26. When I got it, it was well coated in cosmoline, so I had my work cut out for me in cleaning it up. Once I made certain that it was clean, and that the bolt was free (YOU MUST BE ABLE TO shake the bolt and see and hear that the firing pin moves freely inside the bolt, in order to prevent dangerous slam-fires), I took it to the range. Upon firing my SKS, I found that the sights were already DEAD-ON accurate and needed no adjustment. It truly is, "A GREAT SHOOTER!" Thanks again for another happy purchase!

Dont see vids like that every day.  Cool stuff k9!   thumb1

After watching the video, Im left with the same question.  Who imported this batch?

Im not saying Century or IO could not have pulled older rifles, put in plastic, and shipped to Classic. Im simply wondering 'who' they are from.

It is a neat video, they just emailed it to me this morning in their newsletter.

I'm going to say these aren't IO guns.  No way IO would wrap in plastic with the protector on the charging handle like that, you're lucky if you got an intact box from RTI!  chuckles1

But seriously, RTI said they were down to their last 5 and had received no new ones.  If these were IO's they would be selling them at RTI again.  I'm guessing these are second (or third) batch TGIs, or maybe they could possibly be another importer (like we saw with that short run of Foxtrot Lima guns.)Maybe CAI decided to get into the mix when the Sino-Banian 7 mils were determined to be C&R and thus importable after playing it super safe with the six digit /26\, 2 mil /26\, and 3 mil /26\ guns early on.

K-9

Yeah, I asked if they would tell me where they came from since these were the last batch.  They had always kept it a secret.  Still no answer.  Did anyone else ask?

Availability: Out of stock

That was fast.

Not many likely spells TGI or Foxtrot guns

Could be they haven't been able to easily sort them (esp. with the added plastic bags, that's going to make grading @ Classic a nightmare if they haven't been accurately graded by the importer).  From the video they even said they were really busy filling orders, maybe it just overwhelmed them?  Anyone want to bet they pop up in stock again in a week or two?  BTW, the email I got from classic this AM said they were $299.99, not $340+.  Based on that I'm guessing new import as opposed to held back stock.  clap1

Its happened before.  Get overwhelmed and hit the little out of stock button.

I came close to buying one last night. That's not sarcasm for those of you who know me...
I was wanting to shake it up on something outside of my comfort zone, and it's been like 18 months since I bought a SKS...but then I just ate a milkshake and passed out. I'm glad they're sold out. Saved me some money.

Who ordered one?

Killin' me Kevin!

The day you buy a Sino-Banian with 'character' is the day I finally work up the nerve to drop $1.2k on an SVT-40.  chuckles1
