Very nice Tony!  What's the story on this one?

Very nice...   I wonder why all 49s seem to be refurbs.  Have to be careful you are actually buying a 49 based off of other features as we all know a 49 cover on a refurb don't always mean the rest of the rifle is a 49.   Your looks good to go feature wise.   thumb1

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Love the 90 degree block. Cool piece of history  thumb1

Very clean! Nice rifle  thumb1

What are the visible, and not readily visible (without disassembly), features of a '49?
Externally visible: 90 degree gas block, non-chromed barrel lining, non-refurbs have a spike bayonet...
Visible upon disassembly: firing pin spring...

I got it on the same auction as the long barrel m-59 I won't say the price, you might kick me off the site.

I am thinking of doing a nice write up comparing the features of a 49 vs non 49, I wish I had a transitional 50' and a spiker 49' then I could go through the whole transition....Some day ;)

I've got an early transitional 1950 refurb if ya need some pics to add. It has more early features than late. So what LC said about a '49 may not be a '49 just because of the top cover, could happen very easy.

A write up would be awesome and helpful for a lot of people I'd say. Researching mine was a bit of a head scratcher till I got enough SKS's in my collection to really do some side by side comparisons.

I can also send you transitional 1950 pics if interested.
Mine has all the features of an early 50 model.

Chiming in with my transitional '50.  I think this is what alerted me but I am not at all an SKS expert.

Hand drawn receiver cover, looped receiver cover latch, and a 90° gas block are needed for a true transitional '50.  There are many 'early' features that were kept through the entire run of the 1950 series such as the tall RSB while others seems to have been phased out quite quickly.

Carbine here are some shots of the top of my '50 transitional sks(believed so)
"Hand drawn receiver cover, looped receiver cover latch, and a 90° gas block are needed " don't know what the first 2 are but it does not have the 90 degree gas block!

However if you need more detail pics of specific areas let me know.
