Nice catch.
Looks like one from the most recent batches from the Albanian caches.

9th year (1964) carbine with a 9th year transitional bayonet. Is it all matching?

Yes, you’re correct, it’s a nice 1964. I expect you’ll love it thumb1

I love it. Matching would be icing on the cake. PAX

Unfortunately nothing matches as far as numbers.  But i love the stock nice and worn in like it is. metal seems to not have a scratch on it. Do you think the metal was all touched up? Or put together with a newer barreled action that saw less handling?

not a bad shooter either.

first 5 groups after getting the sights zero'd. think i should stop at 3 shot groups.lol

Neat...right at 2k older than mine...and a spike. It's been awhile since I checked, but this might be one of the earliest spikers in the US....if not the earliest.  Years ago I think mine was in the top two?  I just got bumped down a peg.
Too bad it's not matching... mine is aside from an unserialed replacement stock.

Luckily, even a non matching carbine is worth today what matching carbines were selling for just a year ago.

QuoteBut i love the stock nice and worn in like it is. metal seems to not have a scratch on it. Do you think the metal was all touched up?
The metal  on many of the carbines from the Albanian caches arrived in amazing overall condition (stocks notwithstanding). It's tough to say if rebluing was a common practice. But given the condition of many of the stocks from the Albanian imports, i'd guess that re-bluing probably not that common.

QuoteOr put together with a newer barreled action that saw less handling?

Is the "4' stamp on the left side of the barrel lug the same size and font as the "4" stamp on the left side of the receiver ?

Those shots that are touching show promise. What’s PPU PSP, surplus M67 or some of the modern PPU Boxer-primed brass case?

Thanks. I found it, PSP = Pointed Soft Point. Looks like their hunting ammo is good to go.

Let's hold our horses on calling this one Justin.  Totally non-matching gun, (maybe even a parts gun), in Canada so you can't really make any definitive statement about the blade vs spike bayo transition from this one...

Gristle, can you let us know what the stock ferrule looks on this one?  Is it a V notch or a U notch?(https://i.ibb.co/rvykVk3/ferrule-v.jpg)

Ill take a look when I get home.. don't really have a clear pic of the notch.

Here are some pics of the part numbers if that helps. Love learning about these interesting guns. I have another one OTW from the same dealer and batch I believe so see what shows up. I asked for one with the sling swivel on the side of the butt stock that had a spike bayo as I wanted one of each.

Yup, looks like my ugly Betty first yugo m59/66. Not a pair of matching numbers on that girl except the receiver and stock. Shot like a dream though. Still kind of regret letting that one go.

Guns like this one are great for conversation and make great shooters, but I’m very reticent to use them as a basis for any kind of feature progression or other hard data collection. Too many questions there.

On the other hand, that bolt carrier   :o  I would love to own the gun that carrier can off of. Very few letter R guns out there.

Ya I wasn't expecting anything rare about this baby. But happy to open conversation to help me learn a bit more. So with matching Chinese sks. Are the parts all one number and the serial another? Stupid question maybe. I have a 54 izzy (2008) import with the tasteful Canadian mag pin weld... all metal matching # so I get the Russian numbers. Little confused on the Chinese.

Chinese with matching numbers typically have the following format (there are always exceptions)

Receiver: Full S/N with prefix.  Often 7, 8, 9 digits, sometimes as low as 4 digits and I've seen odd guns with 10 digits.  Sometimes the prefix is somewhat separated from the rest of the S/N as they are stamped at different times:

Magazine, trigger group, bolt carrier, bolt, receiver cover often have only the last 4, 5, or 6 digits of the S/N.  5 digits is most common, though the early guns (and some of the smaller arsenals like the example above) can actually have a six digit number here.  For the gun above, the components look like:

Stocks often follow the 4, 5, or 6 digit numbers on the TG, bolt carrier, bolt, magazine, and receiver cover.

Sometimes they have the full S/N however.

Your gun being a 9 mil /26\ would have had 5 digit numbers of "38821" on all components and the stock if it was all matching.  thumb1

Took another pull on the sks slot machine. Got another one from the same dealer. FYI it is matching save the mag and bolt.
Thought I’d share.  1966?

Then it's not matching at all. Either it matches, or it doesn't. When you come up on a rig like that, just list what parts have the same number. PAX

When I said it matched except the mag and bolt. Figured most would deduce which parts do match. Seems I already met your Suggestion. I personally care less about matching numbers. But some did in my earlier post so I figured i would include in this post.
