New to the site. Great info. Got this last week what you guys think? 1964?

Boris Badinov

Nice catch.
Looks like one from the most recent batches from the Albanian caches.

9th year (1964) carbine with a 9th year transitional bayonet. Is it all matching?

Phosphorus32

Yes, you’re correct, it’s a nice 1964. I expect you’ll love it thumb1

I love it. Matching would be icing on the cake. PAX

Unfortunately nothing matches as far as numbers.  But i love the stock nice and worn in like it is. metal seems to not have a scratch on it. Do you think the metal was all touched up? Or put together with a newer barreled action that saw less handling?

not a bad shooter either.

first 5 groups after getting the sights zero'd. think i should stop at 3 shot groups.lol

Neat...right at 2k older than mine...and a spike. It's been awhile since I checked, but this might be one of the earliest spikers in the US....if not the earliest.  Years ago I think mine was in the top two?  I just got bumped down a peg.
Too bad it's not matching... mine is aside from an unserialed replacement stock.

Luckily, even a non matching carbine is worth today what matching carbines were selling for just a year ago.

The metal  on many of the carbines from the Albanian caches arrived in amazing overall condition (stocks notwithstanding). It's tough to say if rebluing was a common practice. But given the condition of many of the stocks from the Albanian imports, i'd guess that re-bluing probably not that common.

Is the "4' stamp on the left side of the barrel lug the same size and font as the "4" stamp on the left side of the receiver ?

hi Gristle and welcome. good to have you here. looks like a nice one, thanks for sharing.
ARMY NAM VET, SO PROUD!

Those shots that are touching show promise. What’s PPU PSP, surplus M67 or some of the modern PPU Boxer-primed brass case?

Thanks. I found it, PSP = Pointed Soft Point. Looks like their hunting ammo is good to go.

Let's hold our horses on calling this one Justin.  Totally non-matching gun, (maybe even a parts gun), in Canada so you can't really make any definitive statement about the blade vs spike bayo transition from this one...

Gristle, can you let us know what the stock ferrule looks on this one?  Is it a V notch or a U notch?

Ill take a look when I get home.. don't really have a clear pic of the notch.

Here are some pics of the part numbers if that helps. Love learning about these interesting guns. I have another one OTW from the same dealer and batch I believe so see what shows up. I asked for one with the sling swivel on the side of the butt stock that had a spike bayo as I wanted one of each.

Doesn't look like there is a single matching part on that thing, LOL.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Yeah, it's almost impressive. A completely mixed parts gun built from the receiver on out  :o
