As a true rifle licker, I'm absolutely offended at this! I'm feeling discriminated against here, who do I file my EEO grievance to?
Hold up, currently the federal laws and EEOC protect people from workplace discrimination on the basis of race, national origin, religion, sex, age, and disability, but there is no federal law, yet, that specifically outlaws workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation at the federal level. The federal law recently just started covering up too, one can no longer discriminate against same sex "marriages", that is now taboo. A federal employee is covered for orientation harassment, but, it's written in the Govt. employees hand book as a "policy", a far cry from an actual "law". Most company policies/procedures are the persons only protection, in a private/publicly held company, policy has to at least hold the government and state requirement minimum, but it can, and usually goes beyond in scope if need dictates.
Sorry bro, at the state level, only a limited numbers of states offer protection for harassment/discrimination "orientation" issues, while New Mexico is one, there may be a tiny little glimmer of hope for you in this case, but, given no support at the federal level, it probably still has no effect on me, as I'm not a tax paying resident of New Mexico.
