The only mosin I actually want.   banghead1

Show off.....   GET HIM!

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

After I owned a few M39s, I just can't return to other Mosin Nagants. they all seem like garbage. .308 SMK in a M39 is just wow! best shooter I ever had.

That M39 in the OP has a beautiful stock  :o

I'm poor so I've been looking for a somewhat good shape t53. I think I'll be looking for a little while lol

Thanks escobert!

It's too bad the retail supply of $79-99 T53s has dried up.  Mine has the typically "well used" stock but has a nice trigger and a decent bore, and I sure don't have to worry about putting a ding in the stock  :))

Those non-refurbed M44s that came in some time ago were nice, too... I like broke in.

I've since decided to pay the few extra bucks and get a M39. I'll be ordering one of the VKT Imperial Eagle's
tomorrow :D

EDIT: Ended up ordering the normal VKT. Eagles were low on stock and I worried about condition when they're low. Didn't want to pay the extra $25 and have it be super beat up just for a stamp on it. I can't wait for this baby to come in though :D

So I ended up with a 42 VKT, on a 1907 Izzy receiver, bluing is pretty well worn on anything showing and the stock has a couple dings but, overall I'm pleased with it. No cracks whew. I'd like to clean the stock up, nothing to ruin it but, not sure how t go about it. I just see so many pretty M39's and mines all dull and brown  :P

Congrats!  thumb1 Could you take some pics in natural light without s flash, so we can get a better look at it? Is it a post-war (square-fingered) or war time (round-fingered) stock?

Many collectors will say "do nothing" to the stock, and that's always the safest approach. The only thing I do to some stocks is rub on a bit of raw, pure, tung oil or linseed oil (no catalysts, no petroleum distillates), and then rub it off, to remove some of the oily dirt on the surface. I only do that to stocks where these types of vegetable oils were known, or widely believed, to be part of the stock treatment.

Any shims under the receiver?

escobert

Yeah I plan on getting it outside for some decent pics but, mother nature has been saying that's not allowed. It's a post war square config, and yeah I just want to get some of the dirt and grime off, and hope it'll bring a bit of the grain out. I know it wont look anything like the beautiful pre war stocks. No shims, haven't shot it yet so we'll see if I got lucky with one that didn't need them.

Mother nature decided to finally play nice. Also gave the stock a nice little lemon oil bath.
