In the past few months I have gotten back into SKS rifles. Kinda growing on me they are. A 9,1 mil range all matched but top cover Vietnam bringback . A letter series early blade bayonet factory 26 matching , A factory 26 22.1 mil range , matching and last made for the Chinese military .And a russki 1954 Tula with rework stamp , matching mot import marked .

Got them out today and took the time to properly zero each one. Took less than 30 rds to zero all four at 90 yds. The 22 mil ranhe chicom is stupid accurate. The vietnam trophy factory 26 did maybe 5" group. the Letter series was easily 3" group. And surprisingly to me from my experience the 54 tula sot under 3" group.  Now I just need to find the right kind of sling for the russki and proper and complete cleaning kits for all of them. Two have kits - neither has front sight tools. One knurled lid  the other not. No markings.

Nice on the zeroing!!!

What ammo did you use?  Some carbines prefer certain brands over others. I remember a member here that tried golden tiger 122 gr. FMJ and was getting massive fliers. They then changed over to brown bear and the fliers all went away. Was wild.

I have almost 3k left of this russki made "hollow" nosed boat tailed bullet ammo. Got a guy local to me selling another 3k of that red army brand ball , I might have to buy all that too.

I miss buying chinese vietnam era surplus in 1100 rd crates for $78 delivered. That was some very good and accurate ammo. ATF in their dull wisdom declared it AP and guys have since treated it like high dollar AP  , ridiculous pricing.

Greatguns

All ammo pricing is nuts high right now.

On the 3k ammo, if the price is decent I'd buy it all, just going to get harder to find until sanctions and war/conflicts settle down.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Guy is asking $475 per thousand. Does not feel like such a deal. But I have not priced going rate of present.

Agreed on buying the entire lot. 7.62x39 is difficult to find these days. I bought a boatload of nice PPU soft point boxer primed brass case from sgammo last year for under $0.50/round. It is now $0.70/round and will go up once the oil shock filters thorough the system.

That uly HP is great stuff btw. Exactly the same as 8m3 hollow point if I remember correctly. One of the few HP offerings in 7.62 that actually expands well and doesn't just strip the bimetal jacket off.  thumb1
