A very long story, short - literally, a battlefield pickup. Matching numbers; I snagged this bayonet (and a JNA helmet) along the roadside, about halfway up Mt. Igman, a few clicks outside of Sarajevo - 1995.

Actually, I/we were working  (sorta) alongside UNPROFOR, long before IFOR & SFOR showed up.  8)

Trust me. I'm with the government, and here to help.  bat1
p.s. the (X)M-1109 I'm leaning on is the first turbo-charged Hummer in Bosnia. That thing could roll!

Phosphorus32

With a white-painted Hummer in a war zone peacekeeping zone, it had better roll!  :o rofl

Yeah, peacekeeping alright. Our white Hummers were billed as "diplomatic" vehicles. We also had fully armored Suburbans, and a couple of light armored 4Runners. Tearing along, blacked out with NVG's, off of established UNPROFOR routes, that was the shizzle! Our annex was near the stadium, if you're familiar with the area. Regular military didn't show up til after the Dayton Accords wrapped. My group also did several months working out of Pristina and Prizren with KFOR '98-'99.
