Bought this from a guy about 10 years ago who got it from a local gunshow. It has just stayed in the safe because It seems to me to be in great condition and I didn't want to damage it. I am in the process of letting some of my safe queens go down the road and this one may be on list. I have another SKS and in fact going to look at one tomorrow that is scoped and set up to hunt with. Love the platform. Into AK's too. Here's some pics guys. Tell me what I have here and I would appreciate any opinions on FAIR, REASONABLE value also. Thanks.

Very nice rifle! Please let us know where you end up listing it. I will be certainly interested.

lowell66dart

Will do but if I sell hopefully I can list it here. I have never sold anything at auction and prefer not to.

Welcome to the files Lowell, you definitely have a nice Russian SKS there.

I am assuming all the other numbers match(bolt, mag, trigger group, gas tube)
At worst it is a non XXXX'd out 1951 Tula light refurb(which is more likely to be what it is).
At best it is an 'as issued' barely used 1951 Tula.

It also has that unusual SN which would probably attract some people. If you are on Gunbroker search completed sales for Russian Tula SKS, prices are all over the place. It is important to give a good presentation on that auction site. Good pics and good description. Pre-panic you'd be looking at $650-$800. Now you're looking at over $1000-$1200, maybe more if you listing is good. Commission and fees on GB would be around $50-$60.

Again, this is assuming your Tula is all matching and complete(box and accessories add value too)
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Thank you. That helps a bunch. No box but the cleaning kit is there and that is the sling that it came with. I will break it down and check on the other parts to confirm matching numbers.

I love how the translation is YUP 666.
That is likely the funniest SKS serial I have eve seen.  If Anton LaVey had a vanity plate.  rofl

Oh, by the way...nice flippin' SKS  drool2
Had it not been an already crazy gun year for me...I would love to fill that hole in my collection. 2021 is gonna be pretty lean.

Lowell66dart, where are you located geographically?

lowell66dart

Louisiana, about midway between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Not quite drivable for me, although I could take a brake from the snow  chuckles1. I bet it's quite nice down there now. Anyhow, let me know if you decide to sell it. I'm in the market for a nice Tula.

lowell66dart

Will do. 70 degrees right now. Don't tell too many people:)

Well, I don't know anything about Astronuts but.... do a Google search for bonfires St. James Parish. Every year we build ~100 bonfires on the Mississippi River levee. They are all lit at 7pm on Christmas Eve. This year we were allowed to start building, then told to remove them due to Covid numbers. Rebuilt on my own property but due to weather could not light. So backup was New Years Eve. Forecast is now 80% rain. I can't wait till this year is over.

On the bright side I am driving 2.5 hours to look at a NORINCO tomorrow. Looking for something to Bubba and shoot the hell out of. Thought I had a Cowboy Companion to use but due to some research today on this awesome site it appears what I really have is an SKS S, all matching numbers. Amazing what you find in the gun safe sometimes.

SKSS's are neat and pretty uncommon...one to keep as original as possible, those short gas tubes are few and far between.  I was lucky to get a spare so I could bubba up my sporter and shelve the thumbhole.  I haven't seen another for sale in years.

No the SKS S is gonna stay pretty. I bought the Norinco today. It's bubba material so I can get creative with it. 400 rounds of ammo too!!!! In Louisiana we call that lagniappe. And that's ends my Cajun lesson for tonight.
