Alrighty, I bit and bought this one from J&G Sales. I paid too much for it initially, but it is matching except the 20rnd star mag with a unique stock repair at the bayonet cutout and look at the SN. :) 8)
I am removing the Star mag to sell along with the Chesegrater(waiting on one more SKS to show up that has an OEM HG that matches this stock pretty well) and the butt pad extension. This one came a lot cleaner and ready to go than the DP so all I had to do so far is remove the butt pad and swap out the mag with the OEM Chinese one I was fortunate enough to get through the PIF box. Will swap the HG when I get the last SKS in.

Before and, so far, After pics;(Last pic is the 10 rnd OEM Mag I installed, so whoever put that in the box, thank you)

My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

When I first saw this on J&G's website I thought it was just a 5 digit numbered SN 12696, but when I got it I realized the 1st digit looks more like a letter. Looks most like an L, but that doesn't fit Cryllic alphabet. Anybody got any ideas on this one? I may need to repost this in a more appropriate section.

Considered a G letter gun Type 56 from 1959-60. Nice rifle with an interesting forend repair.

Scroll down a ways in this topic for the skinny on these.

Again, thanks for the info. I think this one is a keeper.

Oh neat! A letter gun, that's a nice surprise.
I am 99% jealous whenever I see nice ones, mine I got as a barreled receiver from Sarco...pitted about as bad as any SKS I have ever seen.
I have been searching for a letter stock for a couple years now,

That is a rather interesting stock repair, and gives a nice little pot belly swell too.  Is it safe to say that it's a replacement stock? I was under the impression that the letter was stamped on originals, something likely not in the stamp set at refurb perhaps, and they usually were the darker finish.
If not, perhaps I will just stick with the nice looking but sanded enough to be noticeable at a distance side swivel stock I have on it.

Hope the incoming handguard matches nicely, that tends to be a tedious endeavor sometimes.

Me too. I got real lucky in that department on the DP. The HG is the one that I had posted for sale here that noone bought, LOL. Worked out great in the end cause it is a perfect match to that stock. From the pics, the incoming will at least be fairly close with similar graining.

I have a very hard time coughing up handguards, it's just my luck I will get a stock that needs just 'that' tint.  It's happened several times. Even the ugliest one I have is a decent match for the busted up one on my first Classic.

Another great looking SKS. PAX

I snagged a DP, this Letter gun, and a Russian all in the same week, LOL.

With the 20 rounder and the cheese grater, kinda looked like a next gen SVT thumb1.

Yeah, I thought that too, but wanted it back to as OEM as possible on this one.

Finally got my last SKS in today so was able to swap the wood HG over to this SKS. It's a touch lighter, but not bad. Definitely better than the Cheese grater on this unit.
