Could still be a transitional as RM suggests.  Conversation goes like this in the factory wood shop, " NO!! Groove need to be DEEPER!! YOU try flipping lever with groove like that!!! punish1.  Too late for that one since you laquered it".   wink1.

Need more data!  Would love to have four or five year 12’s examples in this range. Could very well be that it was a transition like Bruce says and not a step change.  Good stuff.  thumb1

My cut is also very shallow, but present. When I would occasionally see bringbacks with them, they were similar...almost like an afterthought, possibly done by hand? It might just be they were less pronounced than the later ones.
