My first Yugo arrived today.

i can really push on it, frightenly hard and it doesnt move.  I will try and clean the pins and catch area some more today

Put your hand a few inches away and slap it near the top.

You don't need to hit it with a hammer, but realize that it wasn't supposed to move when launching grenades, so it's pretty rugged.
Use a bit more force than you think it should take and it will lay down for you.

treat it like a those old break action pelet guns, quick little slap should break it free and get her going.

Well, if i ever go to New York i will keep that in mind. 

You were right, slap it and it folds, lean on it with all your bodyweight and it doesnt.

Its back together finally.
I wont say its completly clean, but enough to use.

It is fairly typical, all matching with restamped stock.
If i ever had to do this again i would spay the living heck out of it with wd40 first and let it soften the cosmoline before degreasing. 
The mineral spirits on the stock dried it a bit so i used some boiled linseed oil, and now its a different sticky and stinky

No, i did not.  Is it worth doing before i use it?

I would just take a peek in there to be sure it's clean.
It's really easy to do.

i assume the button just unscrews?

Easier than that.....

With the grenade sight up, take a close look at it. Depress it slightly and rotate it to the cutout and it'll come right out.
