Strangely enough...  I dont think these are rack numbers, but rather they are letters.   Daal and Alif.... They are also inverted.   ???

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Awesome.  Nothing like an 'as found' gun, picked up right where it was left off.

Do you think that is the case on all the stocks that have the markings? I looked those up....and you're right...it sure looks like those letters as well....but when i look at the numbers list....it looks like those as well...Ya'll have been looking at these a lot longer than I have.....Can't we just have a guy who was there and knows!!   :)

That C shaped symbol is not a #......

All the other markings I have seen on other guns were without a doubt numbers...

They're letters, & there's a first for everything.

Worm

hey padams, your op says you can't find a s# in the stock.

found it:

Worm

That was taken off of a Russian, it is not the supplied sterile lammy that the blued carrier guns come with. That's why it's not cut for a spike either.

Honestly, I think these, taken off a Russian in the mid-east are much cooler.

Worm

It's possible this is why the rack marking is different than the norm as well. Could have been a Russian supplied at a different time, or different nation than our chicoms were originally. Mid.East is a mixing pot, so it obviously found its way on a Chinese gun eventually, and that's not surprising.

padams8888

No kidding.....I didn't even see that..sheeez. I was wondering why it didn't have the double cut for the bayo. I thought I had looked it over pretty well. It would be awesome to know the true history on this rifle....People have shown Russian captures as well...yes?

2 of my I.O. Ghosts had a piece of what appears to be heavy canvas/tow strap in the butt. I figured for cleaning but...don't know. They appeared to have been in there with a cleaning kit up against them, for a very very long time.

Adams..

Dont listen to the ignorance elsewhere.  Century DID import several types of guns from Egypt but the sks was NOT one of them.  Egypt NEVER received small arms from China. They did however from Russia.

Anyone who ACTUALLY RESEARCHES the facts will easily find this information. The people of old days who claimed these guns to have come from Egypt saw arabic rack numbers and made an uneducated decision they 'must' be from Egypt because guns from Egypt i.e. Rasheed, Hakim etc also had the rack numbers.

I actually talked to one of the gentlemen that worked for a distributor that originally put out the 'Egypt' theory and he completely reversed his opinion after seeing the recent IC evidence and the lack of Egypt evidence.

This is an even worse scenario then the 'ex-ex-ddr' BS....

Import relations with Egypt dont mean jack...  We have an even more prominent arms import history with Israel.    thumb1

ISRAEL PUTS CAPTURED ARMS ON DISPLAY - NYTimes.com

Quote''In the terrorists hands,'' he said, referring to the P.L.O., ''we found huge amounts in great varieties of arms and vehicles made in 14 or 15 countries, including Hungary, Rumania, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, North Korea, China, Japan, Belgium, France, Britain, West Germany and the United States.''

Quote''We took out 200 truckfulls of arms from one depot alone in the Fakhani section of West Beirut,'' he said. At one point during the war, 100 trucks a day were arriving with captured equipment.

''The biggest surprise was the incredible amounts,'' the officer said. ''If I had 35,000 men I could line them up and give each one a rifle or automatic weapon. It was a huge army, armed to the teeth. I don't know how they got the stuff.''
