Careful Bunker, you might attain the rank of 'enabler' without even trying!  chuckles1

Nice one OCJ, really pretty gun there.  What ammo do you typically shoot in your 7mm guns...surplus, newly made?

About 2 weeks before i even bought my first 7mm Mauser, I lucked into 850 rounds of Kynoch surplus for 300.00

this is from the web but same thing i Scored

I believe they are 140 gr, and are Solid pointed bullets
I shot some the other day when we went to the range , it shot well, i didnt have time to try to get the rifles to point of aim, but Holding about 12 inches low  and using some Kentucky windage at 100 put them in the 8,9 ring with both rifles.

Best bet for accuracy in a 7mm is the original load, a 173gr round nose bullet.

The first 4 are original military round nose, 2 are dated 1896, 4 years after the 7mm Mauser was invented, and 3 years after it's first acceptance into the Spanish Military.
The rounds from 1941 with the CBC on them are Brazilian. That's Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos, or as we know them now, Magtech thumb1

I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

PPU and S&B makes a 173gr round that closely emulates the military round, in spitzer design. Military surplus is often found, but not so much in bulk anymore.

The 139grain stuff is sometimes not very accurate in the worn military bores with the military twist, also, the longer bullet give more surface area for worn rifling to grip. And another downfall of the lighter bullet is the military cut chamber. Most chambers have a lead cut to clear the longer round-nosed or the more modern heavy spitzer bullet, which means the light weight shorter 140gr. spitzer has to travel a ways before it reaches the rifling, thats another situation that can affect accuracy.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.
