Thompson Model of 1927A1

Some weapons say cool , others just say WOW   About two weeks ago I traded a Windham Weaponry AR and a cylinder head I would never use for this, a Thompson. While I didn't really give the AR a chance, but there is just this overwhelming allure of a Thompson. I mean look at it's history, to me it's as American as apple pie. Used by cops, federal agencies, famous gangsters and the military.

Awesome! My buddy had one of those way back when. It wasn't a Thompson though, I don't think. I want to say it was by Eagle Arms or Omega? Anyway, I never got to shoot it but when he showed it to me it weighed a ton but just felt so right. I just felt like a freakin badass old school gangster holding it. Just made me feel mean, like mowing down something with it, anything. What a great gun!

Nothing more American than punching 0.45" diameter holes in stuff    The perfect complement to a 1911.  That ought to get a lot of ogles, oohs and ahs, at the range.  Nice score!

Super sweet trade!

I had a Tommy knock-off...the same one the Son of Sam was going to use in his nightclub massacre that fortunately was stopped.  Cheap POS gun with a major chamber/headspace issue...but it sure was a jaw dropper of a wall hanger.

Fortunately I traded it for an SKS and a T53 before I blew my face off.

Every time I see a real one, it makes me miss it though.

It is heavy, not something I'd want to haul around all day, like the Suomi it weighs about 11 pounds, more than a Garand, without a mag. A 1911 companion, I've got one, but truthfully, I'd rather feed this

And LC, a 100rd drum, maybe one day, you price a new one for me and get back to me, if you buying, I'll take 2. The 50rd drum runs 260-300 bucks, the 100 round, only $550 to 650,  so two Sino-Banian SKSs for one 100 round mag, whata bargain

My first job out of gunsmithing school was building the Tommy's at AO West Hurley. Life doesn't get any better when you take out a 1928 Navy 10.5 barrel & detachable stock and go test fire at the range behind the facility! I was only getting about $6.65 an hour in 81 to "work" there, but on those range days....... I would have paid them !!!
  I gotta say, the FA 28 ruined me for life..... those big ol semi's just make me think hack saw n extra parts or nothing!

Greasemonkey that is an AWESOME piece of Americana, you definitely got a good deal in my book! I got a chance to fire one (full auto) back in the early 80's with a 30 rnd magazine, that was an experience to "write home" about!
