Here are some examples of pinned magazines in Canada.  #5 & #6 pictures are Chinese and the rest are Tula.

Awesome, thanks man!  So interesting that they came up with so many ways to do it.  thumb1

Today I found another way magazines were pinned to 5 rounds. This was on a 51 all matching SKS. Added to folder (second and third pictures).

Added another magazine to pictures(first picture). This was on a Chinese sks.

Why couldn't they go with something simple like the DC Engineering 5 shot block? dntknw1

It looks like this block could be removed and reinstalled. A temporary 5 round fix. I am not saying that what I posted could not also be removed, but it could not be reinstalled if checked at a random police stop. There are severe penalties for having a 10 round magazine in Canada, this is why magazines are pinned to 5.

Found one more example of pinned magazine. #1 in folder.

Neat stuff,  I'm thinking to pull all the photos to the SKS-Files server and incorporate them into a sticky (if that's ok with you?).  Good information that we want to keep archived as best we can in the event imgbb goes down or something else goes south.  thumb1

I have no problem with you saving them.

i was on another forum about the rarity of a Chinese 5 round magazine. I had a rifle several years ago with one but sold it. But a couple years ago I bought a 5 round magazine (no rifle) and put it away. When I read the article, I decided to pull it out. To my amazement, I found that the Chinese 5 round magazine was pinned to 5 rounds. Would it have held 6 rounds if not pinned, no idea? But it will hold 5 rounds the way it is now.

Nice.  Lots of hand work on that 5 rounder.  I guess they would rather be safe than sorry wrt to 5 vs 6 rounds.

I'll get all these organized into a sticky at some point.  thumb1

If you thought that the Westrifle frankenpinned magazine was bad, here is an example where the serial number is partially destroyed by the weld job.

Found another example of a pinned magazine on a 1963 Chinese SKS. This one actually covers the last number in the S/N.

I had no idea the 5s were hard to find. I had 2 with "Made in China" written in cursive that went down the road and a scrubbed 5er that I kept for a build I call "The Canadian Deer Stalker" because of the mag limit. I cut the barrel to 18.5", used a neutered front sight globe & a Mojo rear. The donor rifle was a salvage job, numbers matching rifle except for the mag & a Butler Creek stock. No wear on the bolt face at all. PAX

I saw this Chinese rifle for sale and although I was not interested in it, I noticed the magazine. I asked about getting more pictures, but have not received any yet. But here is a picture from the ad. I would guess that the spacer has been drilled and threaded. Another example of how magazines are pinned.

I much prefer something like that versus an extremely visible weld.  thumb1
