   Greasemonkey,

Thanks for clarifying what those mags are with drilled holes. I knew they were legit CZ mags and figured the swords were drilled through. Now I know that's the truth. I have seen them from time to time on ebay but the prices are ridiculous. I could really use 3-4 more because all i have is the 2 that came with it. Is there any 10rd mags that are worth a damn for them? I wish MecGar made some.

Many of the 10rd were sucked up when states implemented the limit bans, I may or may not have seen Maryland people scarfing up mags at shows here in VA :o At one time AIM, J&G and others had bunches of the 10 rd and the 12 rds were kinda hard to get.

Keep an eye on eBay. I've caught a few hard to get mags there. I nailed a buy it now for my S&W 1006.. snagged 5 magazines for $75 a piece(there is no aftermarket option). Sometimes, some kid is cleaning out dear old dads estate..and don't research and lowball themselves.. you just have to kindly oblige their ignorance, jump and snatch it up, no remorse... chuckles1 rofl2

And I know all about how expensive Cz mags are... I have 2 Cz .22 Hornet rifles I've gotten 2 magazines a piece for, a pair of ZKM465 mags costs almost what the rifle costs. I'm still hunting one more .222 Remington mag for a BRNO Fox...
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Totally agree on ebay. And I do not just look there for cheap gun related items from someone who does not know the real value. I have scored several deals on everything from board games to crafts. Every time I see a large lot of something uncommon I think.... "someone must of died".
I hope CZ listens to my suggestion on making new mags.

There are demilled Cz82/Cz83 mags as well, and unmarked ones which I've heard are the commercial non-military marked magazine or they were made for police units. Police units didn't need to be military accepted. When I got my 3 Cz82s.. they included one aluminum base magazine and one stamped steel base mag, the aluminum base was in the pistol, the stamped base was in a mag pouch, both had crossed swords.

Here is part of a Cz magazine lot I picked up a few years ago, it has all 3 types. Note 2 have the crossed swords, 5 have holes where the swords would be stamped, and the bottom 4 don't have markings.  So... 2 military magazines, 4 police/commercial unit magazines and 5 demilled military magazines.

The demill hole where they drill the crossed swords. one still has a hint of the sword stamp.

No seam like the lesser made ones.

Got off my rear and checked my 4 magazines and all four have the crossed swords, and no hole. Noticed the milled floorplate one has one scallop (Top only) per side in the magazine body whereas the stamped ones have two.

I've seen the non dimpled ones, and never really found out a reason for the change... maybe..  :o   the dimpled ones were made during production of the pistol, the non dimpled were just a later production, or maybe it's the other way around. I'm sure either work, and probably no difference in capacity. Interestingly, the '92/'93 time frame, the Cz82 ceased production and at the same time, Czechoslovakia split into Slovakia and the Czech Republic.. so maybe, a big maybe...  thats why the change.

Out of curiosity I checked the magazines on both of our 1991 made CZ-83s and they have the extra dimples. The 83's were bought new from the Rhein Main AB Rod and Gun Club at Rhein Main AB, Germany in 1992.

So the single dimple ones must be the earlier made ones.

In response to Ret-Sarge's pictures I am glad he posted these. The two mags I got with my CZ-82 are both different. One has the thin stamped floor plate and the other has what looks like a thicker cast scalloped floor plate in his pictures. Both of mine have the swords just like his.

One persons question, opens up a whole lot of dialog which leads to more questions and then answers being discovered. The more I post, the more I learn. I've learned more from yall than I have contributed.

Isn't this a great forum....?

I believe the aluminum base ones are either original to the particular pistol or they're older magazines. The cost and expense of the aluminum base was probably superseded by the lower cost stamped floor plates. I seem to see a lot more stamped based than the milled aluminum ones. Have to remember, we're dealing with a Communist country while these were in production, cheaper is better...

I have heard.. never tried.... certain Cz75 magazine bases will or can be fitted to the Cz82 magazines to kind of replicate the thicker base.

Ordered the holster for the one CZ-82 as it didn't come with one, along with the lanyard and cleaning rod.

Wow those unused holsters are tight. Going to take some work and use to loosen it up.
