New SKS (1952)

Just picked up a nice Russian SKS in trade a few days ago. I've had several Chinese and Russian SKSs in the past but it's been a while. I can't seem to find any refurbish marks or X'd out numbers, looks like all the numbers match and it doesn't look like it's been fired much. Regardless I'm happy to have one back in the collection!

If you're going to have one Russian SKS that one is a great choice. The as-issued reddish-brown stocks are gorgeous!

This rifle bears all the attributes of an unissued, straight to ready storage rifle,  but i think the  stock exhibits several features that suggest that the stock has been refinished at some point.

Multiple crossbolt stamps on both sides of the stock. Crusty, lacquer buildup around both cross bolts. And the remnant of what appears to be faded lacquer over spray on the edges of the butt plate (shown in a thread on the AKfiles).

The receiver looks like it has been on the polishing wheel. The bbl/rcvr indexing number (6) is heavily worn. Possibly to address light rust from storage.
