Older P229

I've acquired an older P229 in 40 S&W, and it is an awesome shooter. The pistol came with Hogue grips (original grips also, but in the case) which are great, but for those blessed with short fingers, will the current E2 grips/grip kit work with this pistol? At a minimum, it looks like I need a different hammer spring for the E2 grips if I get Sig's E2 grip kit. Sig Sauer's site does not seem to list that spring. Am I missing anything? Any recommendations for a slim/small grip scale configuration? Note: serial number (visually) altered to protect the innocent...
