What were the 20 barrel versions called. Scooped one up this morning. I will post some pics later today

I don't think it's ever been concretely defined.  Parka Para (OD Green Stock)  and Stealth Para (Black Stock) were labelled on the boxes, but as far as I know, the 20 1/2" versions of these either have not been seen in boxes, or the boxes themselves have no identifying labels. thumb1

Looking forward to seeing it!  dance2

Maybe the 20" barreled ones were Latino oriented and were labeled Parka Para Ti! (Spanish for Parka for you!) rofl rofl

More seriously minded, I vaguely recall seeing a box and it said 'K-Sports Parka SKS' and then listed whether ODG or Black stock.

I did some searches and they all lead right back to here. Who knows. This looks to have been never fired and handled very little.

Just like my Para Parka this was just listed as a Norinco SKS for sale for $600. Wasn't really looking for another Norinco but the ad had a phone number, slow Sunday evening so went and called. The guy told me this was included in a package deal with some shotguns he wanted. When he told me it wasn't a wood stock I thought Bubba and almost said no thanks but he said all the numbers matched and the original mag was still there and he had a little ammo. Hmmm. Asked for pics and that lovely green popped up.

Also came with this B Square mount and 4x scope which I will not use so if someone wants to tell me a fair price for it I would appreciate it.

And the ammo. Do collectors want this? I only collect ammo to shoot. Again, what's it worth?

You did well on that deal. The extra hardware and ammo is icing on the cake.  thumb1

Norinco ammo is certainly collectible. Used to be 1.2x up to 2x the price of Russian steel case (depending on whether it’s steel core, non corrosive, etc) but anymore I’d think that valuation is going to be tough to get. Still can probably fetch 50 to 70 cents a round I’d guess, but I don’t have anything concrete to really base that off of.  dntknw1

You may be right on that GG. I seem to vaguely remember that name too.

Yeah, that name sticks in my mind and not thinking of anything else. As for the ammo, Russian White box is lead core bi-metal jacketed HP and good for shooting, not really collectible other than desirable for shooting. Nobody is going to give you more than the going rate though. On the Norinco, does the box say lead-core? If not it may be steel core, silver box was brown coated casing, IIRC your yellow box is green coated correct? More of a poly matte finish as opposed to lacquer. If so it is good to shoot as well and given the climate, you'd probably have to put it up onGB if you want to get anything for it above going rate. I have a bunch and can't get it sold locally, but my area is a bunch of non-SKS appreciating rednecks, LOL.
As for the scope and B-square mount $50 is going to be a price on it probably. Hope that helps.

Yes the ammo is green coated and supposed to be steel core. Gonna put a magnet on it. Guess it will go in the ammo can. Now I'm an ammo collector!

I saw the mount and Simmons scope set on Ebay for around $100 shipped so yeah I would be happy with $50.

A new scope like that runs anywhere from $35-$75 these days, but most don't want to pay over $25 for a used one. I have one I posted several times in various combinations with no takers, but I finally latched onto a Ruger PCC 9mm so it went on that with see-thru rings. The problem with the B-square is that you have to remove the take-down lever which makes it a hard sell these days.

On the Norinco, keep in mind even if it is lead core it will stick to a magnet due to the bi-metal jacket. Again, IIRC, the ammo is steel core unless marked lead core on the box. And even then that is questionable.

Definitely a nice score! There aren’t a ton of those versions floating about thumb1

I’m not exactly a commercial SKS collector but I dig the practical brush gun vibe of these pistol grip Parka SKSs 8)

Thanks for all the comments guys. I’ve been down the AK rabbit hole lately and it’s nice to find another SKS.

This may help on the Parka Para box info that was discussed earlier:

SKS PARKA-PARA 7.62x39mm OD STC (Olive Drab Stock)

I have yet to see a 20" model still with the box. So, no idea if the nomenclature is any different on those.

Hey ya FC, good to see you around.

Your pic of the Para box makes me think even more that the big sister box was simply SKS Parka and the -Para was added for the paratrooper models. Does anyone have the box for a Stealth model? I'll wager it reads SKS Parka - Stealth or SKS Stealth Parka

Hey GG!   Yeah, I'm still in the moving mode but I think we're over the halfway hump now. For anyone that hasn't had to move recently,...moving STILL sucks!  pullhair1
We hadn't moved in 30 years, so we've had to deal with all that "stuff" we accumulated during those years.

The few 20" K-Sports Parka's that I've seen weren't still with the original box so I have no idea how they designated that model. Did K-Sports ever issue a catalog like Navy Arms did?
