Ok, so new to the board (introduction is in the intro section) and I wanted to get a little clarification on my rifle. I see there is a Military section and a Commercial Section. My Rifle is a Norinco /26\ build 24 mil S/N rifle (build in 1979?) but is in amazing shape. I was obviously never issused to a military. So would these  later rifles be considered miliatry offerings or by this point moved over to the commercial side. I know they sold models like the paratrooper, Cowboys companion, etc. Mine is not one of these. Just a regular norinco 20 inch barrel. Thanks!

If it is all original with the bayonet, and has the 3 Chinese symbols I believe it would classify as military and probably got put into mothballs then pulled out to export to the US market.
Other, more smarter than I, may have better info.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

The /26\ marking and 24 production year prefix means it’s a 1979 Jianshe Arsenal build for the military. It will have the 五六式 (Type 56) marking, which makes it military, whether or not it was issued to a PLA unit or a militia.

Great! It is exactly as you described. Now I know which section to direct my questions. Loving this board already.
