Enjoy! All matching, seems to be some carvings on their including what I guess are someone's initials A.V. or R.V. Also something above the trigger that I can't quite make out at the moment. Can't wait to de-cosmoline and shoot this weekend

Yup, the metal on that gun looks plain awesome!   

The stock looks correct too, is it S/N'd to the gun?  There have been quite a few guns that have come in with that pockmarked kind of pattern in the stock.  It's obviously intentional, but for the life of me I can't decide if it's someone trying to make letters or a picture with the pips, or just some bored solder jabbing XYZ pointed tool into the stock at random.

Either way, you could have done far worse for your first SKS.  Let us know how you like it!

Im convinced those marks are bullet tips being jabbed into the wood.

Nice, honest wear on your specimen!  My all matching Type 56 is an F, just about 400 SNs above yours. I got mine from Classic Firearms.  I also have an F mixmaster in an Alby replacement stock in the 3400 SN range. That's a rather small sample set on which to draw conclusions but I guess the Chinese must have sent the Albanians a bunch of their F'ing SKSs

Congratulations...you'll never be the same now! Awesome looking carbine, those marks do look like maybe they were done with a cartridge, some even look like they were done with a hollow point.

Very nice specimen, the bluing is fantastic compared to many seen lately.

Is the stock serialed to the gun?  If not, I wonder if the pockmarks are from bird shot?  If at some point this was used in an urban war...it could be the first gun the stock was on was being handled by someone getting peppered by a local....just a thought.

Yup the stock has the same SN O0, bought it from a local guy. I agree my first thought was that some guy was stressed and started jabbing a cartridge into the stock. This will definitely not be my last SKS

Very nice, The addiction is about to grab ya...Its best to just give in and enjoy the ride. 

My F is about 600 off from yours but is at the opposite end of the nice level. It also has the same "bullet tip" type pock marks as well. Interesting to know others have the same marks.

I read somewhere that you love your sks even more once you detail strip it so I did.. And I was TERRIFIED! I've never seen so much cosmoline in my life!!! Took a few hours of hot water and moose milk (ballistol + water) to get all the crap out of the nooks and crannies.

She's had about 300 rounds of random wolf stuff and works great for the most part, sometimes the last round will jam with the bullet sticking straight up out of the receiver. Also the bolt hold open doesn't work too well after a few shots but I figure I can just bend the follower spring a bit..

Stovepipes on the last round only...   hmm.   Can you get us pics of the follower?  I wouldn't go bending anything yet..   Does the piston travel smoothly within the gastube? Are you sure the bolt hold open and spring within the receiver is operating correctly and smoothly also... free of debree etc?

Everything seems to be free of debris, just seems like the follower spring doesn't have enough force.. Even though it feels like it does compared to the bolt hold open. Here's a pic, I have two videos of operation that I'll post when they load.

Follower itself looks fine, and I wouldnt think the issue would be the follower spring.  What do the feed lips on the topside of the mag loom like?@

I'd like to remove the bolt hold open to inspect but don't have a pin press at the moment.

Hey Greasy, maybe start with the magazine and work your way up.  Pull it off the rifle and close it and see if the follower is hanging up inside the magwell somewhere.  Sometimes they can get bent off to the side, or the tolerances can be off so bad that they hang up a bit.  I've seen it happen especially with the tip on the follower that engages the bolt hold open slide off to one side of the channel in the magwell it is supposed to ride in.  Also, sometimes that tip is simply too long and needs to be shortened 0.020 of an inch.

One final thing to check on is whether the pivot on the follower is free and allows the follower to pivot freely regardless of the position of the follower arm. 

If you can move the BHO with your finger and it's not caked with grease and dirt, I'd suspect there shouldn't be much there that could cause your problems.
