I don't think he has to convince anyone here about how amazing the SKS is :)

As far as the 'undervalued' goes... Good old market at work. Supply and demand. They sell at 400-500 and suckers like me keep buying them. pullhair1 pullhair1 So it must be their value. Personally I don't see them becoming cheaper  :( and they aint making more of those.

They're great if you live in a restricted state and want a rifle that was made to military standards. If you're in a freer state an AK or AR will do everything an SKS will do but better besides historical collectibility.

That’s why you must have multiples of each

In my opinion.....

They have been under appreciated and thus under valued in the past.  Maybe 20 years ago I don't think gun guys/collectors had the same perception of the SKS that people have now.  Perhaps that is the impact of the gun auction sites on the internet, forums such as this and a plethora of SKS videos including "SKS review", "the most under appreciated rifles" and "will rise in value the most" rifles.   More guys didn't know much about them in the past or maybe even know they existed at all, 20+ years ago.

As more time has past, it seems to me that they have become much more popular as a handy farm rifle, collectable rifle for the average guy, fun shooter and a cheaper "back up" 7.62x39 rifle. With more knowledge of them and thus more guys wanting to get one, the value has gone up significantly.

As they undervalued now...?  No I don't think so.   :)

Will they go up...probably slowly over time.  The continued supply of surplus rifles from Albania has helped people get one without dealing with auction sites, so once they dry up then prices may go up again.

Plus it also depends on what happens in DC.  More restrictive laws on rifles in general or detachable magazines could create more demand for them.   If the threat of more bans subsides in 2022 and 2024, then I think gun prices in general will drop back down...some.  Including SKSs.  thumb1
