Greetings, I'm a hobby/recreational shooter and have a couple commercial Chinese SKS rifles I like to tinker with from time to time. They both came to me bubba'd. The one I shoot is a regular old Norinco SKS rifle that I've modified more to my liking over the years, with a tech rear sight and a more accurate front post sight. My second rifle is a Norinco Sporter (I believe a "D" model) that was made to accept AK mags. I haven't shot the Sporter yet, because of some feed and trigger issues with dummy rounds. I'm still trying to sort those issues out, which has led me to this forum, where I hope to get some insight and make some repairs myself if I'm able to. I'm trying to mostly un-bubba the D, with a wood stock close to what the original might have been like.

Welcome from Tennessee, post pictures of the SKS that takes AK-47 magazines and we can help you "un-bubba" that for ya!

Thanks, here's a recent pic from a couple weeks ago, before I field stripped the gun and took apart the trigger assembly, which has put me in my current predicament. I made a post about my problem over in the gunsmithing and troubleshooting forum.

It came with a Tapco Intrafuse stock I didn't care for. My biggest step in the un-bubba process was to find a wood stock for a D rifle. I couldn't find any original D stocks that weren't outrageously expensive, so I found a gentleman on Etsy who makes wood stocks, which is where the one pictured came from. It already looks much better than before.

Man, I could have sworn I posted a greeting here. Anyway, welcome Optimus Prime...Errr I mean 140. Greeting from Kansas City, MO

That's a nice aftermarket wood stock you have on there. Not original, but not necessarily needing to be changed either.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Optimus, Welcome from Kentucky!  What you have is what we term here as the "Sporter" version that originally came in a thumb hole stock.  If you go to the Commerial section on the SKS Guide, you'll find all of the "magazine" variants.  The stock you have on yours looks pretty good, though!!!  Cheers, Bruce.

Greetings from SW Missouri, Optimus140! (Late, I know. But better late than never!  :)  thumb1  )

I like that stock that you've installed on your SPORTER. The Rick O'Brien on Etsy sure does some nice work! I've seen pics of Bubbazinetti's stock that Rick O'Brien had done for him and it's really nice too. I may break down and order a special one from him for my "M". Or maybe a "shooter" stock for one of my Beta Arms import "D" models.

Please post up full sets of pics in a new thread for each rifle! We love pics and we sure can offer better assistance with pictures available!

Great to have you join us!
