I traded for this Type 84 a while back.  I had no idea it was a Type 84, I only knew it took AK mags.  Its is in what I can only assume is an aftermarket SKS stock modified to fit the Type 84.  No original stock, no bayonet, no original mags and the receiver cover has a scope mount welded to it.  Luckily, they didnt drill anything.

All that being said, I have 3 magazines that fit (with a little practice seating them) and feed just fine.
From my research, it started life as a Type 56 and the serial number, 11,xxx,xxx dates to 1966.  Bolt carrier, bolt and milled trigger group all have the same serial number.

Any ideas on value for a rare gun like this that has been bubba'd?

Even thought it is in bubba condition, it's still rare, only if it was all original.....

Still very nice, I like the types that take AK magazines.

Nice find and at least it's in a nice TimberSmith stock. You could always find a bayonet and cleaning rod for it as is. Only issue you'll have if you ever find an OEM stock is selling the Timbersmith since it has been inletted for the magwell housing.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Just my opinion... Being that it's bubba'ed, it's kind of lost the collector appeal, but on the flip side.... It's still a para length, high cap model, that much will hold it's value, while not as high as a orginial specimen, it still maintains that para high cap premium. They can also be very finicky about magazines. I have 3 30s and 2 20s that have been modded to fit just for use in mine. I just keep them and my regular AK mags separate for my own sanity.

Having one, I have no clue what $$$$$ value they sell for today, I paid 450 for my original with an original magazine.
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I said I was an addict........I didn't say I had a problem

The cleaning rod is there.  As far as magazines go, i have a new, unmodified Croatian mag that works flawlessly.   I also found a Chinese mag at the gun show yesterday that seats properly without being modified.  I have not been able to try it at the range yet.

Nice looking laminated thumbhole stock though.Overall it's in excellent condition imho.

You may not have gotten this to the range yet, but if you have, how well does the bolt hold-open work on yours? Has the pin taken much damage from previous firing? I've seen a few of the Type 84's and they all had wear on that pin. Not sure how well the heat treating was done originally.

Nice specimen even if it was bubba'd! Those stocks look great. I've never had one to use, so I don't know how they "feel".
