I guess I would consider this a "commercial" model, since it was not built for military use.  Since it was imported after 1989, the bayonet was separated and came with a label instructing the buyer not to install the bayonet.  I guess this is the way they were making this into an importable "sporting rifle".  Hilarious!

Anyone know what the "C16" prefix before "92" is?

Greatguns

I was thinking, at first, it was an 016 for the arsenal. If it's indeed a C16 it may be an importer stamp, the 92 is funky as well. It looks like they took a 6 and turned it upside down for the 9 then took a 5 and did the same thing to make the 2. The 2 in 92 does not match the 2 in the 7.62. Stamping is heavier and probably done later and seems to have disturbed the bluing.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

The numbers have some remnants of paint in them.  Apparently they painted the serial numbers to make them stand out more.  The paint is over the bluing.
