Picked this one up from Cowan's Auctions in July (just arrived) because I liked the scarcer /106\ arsenal. It's curious that all of the part numbers (except the stock) have a different font than the receiver; they have the angular style 3s and thinner 0s. It doesn't appear obviously scrubbed but presumably it was refurbished and then used considerably, after refurbishment and before import. There was a fair amount of scattered Cosmoline but not enough to impede function, so it could have received some wear here in the US as well.

I haven't done a side-by-side comparison of this 1966 /106\ with my 1967 or 1968 /26\. The obvious features are consistent with a 1966 Jianshe, but the lightening cut in the bolt carrier is very shallow, it looks like it wouldn't have saved more that a few 100 milligrams in weight.

Anyhow, I like the look and I'm pleased to have an example from one of the earliest arsenals to produce the Type 56 other than Jianshe.

Nice Jon!

One of the very few /106\'s I've ever seen not to be Navy Arms stamped!  thumb1

The 3's on the piece parts are interesting, but I think the components are all original to the gun, just stamped with a different set.

We need to use this one as a prime example in the /106\ arsenal component configuration threads.  It's a very nice specimen.  thumb1 thumb1

Thanks Joe!  I could certainly be convinced that it's all original. The parts definitely do not look scrubbed. Perhaps just 332 rifles into production they hadn't harmonized everything, such as, the same font for marking dies  bat1 :)) The unevenness of the numbers with respect to an imaginary horizontal line, is quite striking (so to speak), on the bolt, bolt carrier and receiver cover especially. That is very different from the well aligned numbers on the receiver serial number.

C'mon how cool is it that the serial ends in ...32 and it's P32s gun.  thumb1

Really liking this one. And as usual still learning and wasn't even aware of the 106. Thanks for posting.

Thanks!   rofl I hadn't even thought about the 32.

I'd be confident to call that one as original numbering, as there is no evidence of scrubbing.

Boris Badinov

Most excellent. They don't get any sweeter than this.

Congrats on a very nice catch!

Thanks. I'll happily go along with the experts' votes for original  :)

Thanks Boris! Only about 93 Chinese arsenal stamps to go to get a decent Type 56 collection  :o rofl

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Isn't that particular CAI stamp configuration associated with the "early batch" imports of I.C. guns from the middle east?

Direct Connection

Yeah that thing is in a Communism class of its own. And a Complete Kicker of all matching numbers in a jungle looking background is first class second to none ! I like your style.  clap1

Depends of if you believe the first century batch were ME guns.

Thanks DC! Glad you like it as much as I do  :)

As far as a Middle East connection it has none of the other characteristics. I suppose I should look under the buttplate for sand.
