Hey guys

I'm unsure about how to oil my SKS after cleaning. I undertand oiling the firing pin but do I oil the receiver and the bolt and bolt carrier too?

Avoid wet  lube for the firing pin or firing pin channel. It can attract debris and lead to problems.

For the firing pin, use a Dry lubricant instead.

Then I like to lightly spray everything with Remington Oil or a wipe and swab with Hoppe's.

For long term storage I also coat the barrel bore with RIG gun grease.

+1 on the RIG gun grease for long term.  thumb1

As far as the FP and FP channel, same advice as Boris. If you use anything, just use a light amount of dry lube/graphite. I usually don't put anything back on mine after cleaning. I like to hear them rattle freely.

I'll usually take a rag with Rem Oil and wipe them down before putting them in the safe or gun case.

I live in SW Missouri and it's humid here. I don't have any rust issues following the methods used above. Extreme conditions would alter my lube advice but nothing that I run across in this neck of the woods needs anything more. (IMO)

Get a large diameter PVC pipe (like 4") and cap one end.  Fill it up with the heaviest viscosity 100% synthetic oil you can find, and dunk the entire barreled receiver with just the stock removed.  That should do it.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

I like to wipe down everything metal with a rag and gun oil when i am done.  This is mostly a habit i picked up from my dad and partly because i found a perfect rust impression of my fingerprint on a shotgun once  :o
Plus i never know how long it will be before i shoot that particular gun again, if its next weekend i will just wipe the oil off before i go.

Im sure everyone here does it differently, but where you live and where you store the gun will play a part too. Might be less important if you have a nice safe and dehumidifier than if its in the coat closet.
