So, I picked this up recently. Paid too much (I'm not int he "$75 sks" camp but paying more than $350 for any sks makes me feel like I'm not haggling enough, or getting FOMO)

1962, /26\, bayonet. bayonet wear pattern looks right but someone messed the staking up. it's the right bayonet but may not be original?

Everything else matches except the top cover, which is sino-soviet, but has a matching wear pattern tothe rest of the rifle.

Import mark is the old small "CAI ST. A VT" with a barely visible "7.62......" on the barrel. (second set of photos, I didn't get the right things when I did the first set)

I see no other obvious evidence of this being an IC, other than the import mark, age, and particular patina. there may be some sand left caked in the buttplate screw, there, or maybe not. I haven't taken the buttplate off yet, but I'll be doing that at some point to take a look.

Ha!

Welcome to the forum.

Others will chime in. But I think the import stamp makes it pretty certain that this is one of the early IC imports.

All your fault, Boris. me and my couple dozen SKS are here to have a bit of fun and learn some more.
