I've got a very nice commercial SKS that I haven't seen before.  It's one that takes AK mags and I thought it was just like the other SKS 30 that I had but this one doesn't have the quick release bayonet.  It also doesn't have too many markings on it.  The trigger guard, top cover, and stock were never stamped with a serial number and there is no import mark that I can find.  So is this considered an "SKS 30" model?

  You need a crew

I daresay....that be a D but the serial isnt in line wih Ds, and I dunno about the normal bayonet.

Canadian border jumper.

The 95 date-serial prefix is after the US import ban --last US imports being '93. And the absent import stamp seems to make Canadian provenance a sure thing.

Not sure what the Cannucks call it. You could try posting it on the Red Rifles sub-forum at the CanadianGunNutz site.

Is the carrier cut to accept 10 round clips, or a solid Frankenstein-like block?

I think this is what you've got:

Essentially a Canadian  D or 30.

Possibly modified for the US market, but then redirected after the import ban.

I approve.

Very, very cool!  thumb1

DOH!

I totally forgot about these. Seems as if the ones without detachable bayonets weren't just the blade versions. It seems as if they got a mish mash of the last ditch effort at pleasing the Clintons. And it's all over the map apparently... blade or spike bayo, detachable, deleted...

Very neat if there were indeed detachable blades though...since they apparently make for great throwing knives.  I would dare to say it would actually be an improvement to the design, in practical use. You could probably make a handle out of the cleaning kit by removing everything but the brush....or just slightly altering the tube's design.  8)

Nice rifle.  The lack of markings make for an especially nice weapon that should help it bring a premium in the future.  Were you able to get the box with it?  Cheers, Bruce.

Yeah, I know these SKS 30 and SKS D rifles typically bring pretty good money.  The last SKS 30 rifle that I sold went for more than $800.  I've got 3 or 4 uncommon SKS rifles that I plan to list on ARMSLIST to see if I can get a local sale.  1958 Romanian, 1971 Albanian, this one, and maybe 1 more.  Not sure yet.

Indeed! That's a clean, very clean SKS!
