Garage161

Hi , new to the forum , thought I'd introduce myself and post up some pics of my recent range time out with my sks rifles.
I'm in Alberta Canada and shoot my sks rifles at least once a week , love them !

Looks like fun times!  I'm surprised there is as little snow on the ground as there is. My sister-in-law is up in Winnepeg and my wife hails from Newfoundland.  I'll always remain jealous of the Chinese & Russian imports of firearms and surplus ammunition you guys are still able to buy at retail. That stuff dried up a long time ago here in the states.

We had a fair bit of snow in February but it dried up quickly with some warmer weather.
We are lucky here with the availability of the sks and surplus ammo for sure ! I actually just placed an order for a 1949 Tula sks that cost me $500 , going to keep it as an investment , hopefully the '49s go up in value like the yugo's have. A decent condition yugo is in the $650-800 range up here these days.

Nice pics, looks like a good outing in the countryside with your SKSs etc. I have a bicycling friend from Medicine Hat, AB.

Looks like you guys still have access to good Chicom ammo and stripper clips, too.

Both are getting tougher to find. Especially at a price anyone wants to pay.

I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

For now it's still easy to find the Chinese surplus and stripper clips. The price keeps going up though all the time.

It sure is a 597 , it's actually a pretty fun little gun, Ive read all the bad reviews it gets  but luckily haven't had any trouble with mine so far.

Thanks for posting the pics, Garage161!  Nice couple of Chinese Type 56's you've collected!  thumb1  And, welcome to the board! (Watch out for certain enablers, though! They tend to "encourage" buying multiples of the SKS, and other surplus, etc., with no set stopping point.  I never should have listened to 'em! yes4 )

Mines the Heavy Barrel version , apparently they have less issues , I like it though so far , decently accurate and fun to shoot. Mine came with the plastic style of magazine though and I do believe I'll be replacing that soon just going on it's overall lack of quality in its construction lol.
Otherwise a good cheap shooter. I have a Vietnam War era Tigerstripe camo vinyl stock wrap to put on it , that should definitely add at least a half MOA to its accuracy chuckles1
