So where do the DP/DB marked rifles fall in the classification? Military or commercial? Anyone know when this one was made? I know where, just can't figure out when.

The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.

There is a lot of speculation about the DB/DP carbines. I would consider them military, but domestic use seems to be likely too...either for local militias or policing. The 2 million serial would possibly indicate 1975 for a manufacture date, but the DP/DBs often didn't adhere to the dating system. The features seen in the photos would fall into that area, photos of the sight leaf...or just whatever symbol is on the battle position.

Fixed it for you.  Best not to think in millions as it causes issues! thumb1  I think it's a pretty safe bet that this DP is indeed a year 20 (1975) produced carbine.  There are many Jilin guns that span from year 19 to year 24 with none of the oddball impossible-to-date-from-the-S/N numbers in the mix like you see from the DB Lushun, Shenyang, and Yangqing built guns.
