Target season in the boonies

Its finally here.  Shooting season.  At least for me, i have the time and the space to do it, weather permitting.

And this year i upgraded the range equipment.
Behold, the Shootomatic 1000 (TM)

Hit the gong first shot, one miss on each milk jug, total 8/10.

I was happy.

Then i went and began making the Shootomatic 2000 (TM) for tomorrow.

Canada, Saskatchewan to be more precise, or just above  ND & MT.
I like my mosins,  one day i will just buy a sheet of plywood and see just how far away i can hit it.  The walking back and forth to see where/if usually tires me out first.  The gong is much more rewarding than i was expecting with the movement and sound.

Looks like fun!  I'd love to have that kind of room to shoot. I'm guessing you have a half mile of uninhabited flat land behind your target. Drop of ~ 2.5, 4, 7, 10 ft at 400, 500, 600, 700 yds, respectively, for light ball (LPS).

If you go for a walk behind the target you can often see the lines in the snow where the misses land.

Today was 1950 sks and K31 day.
I sucked with the SKS, aiming at the gong hit the rim of the barrel on the left, and i never found the right hold consistently. But the grouping was good. 
Afterward i realized i normally do 50yds and occasional 100yds once i have the feel for it.
The new version of the target was set at 200yds and i took 2 shots with the K31 and one hit the bar.

The steel uprights are partly because the splatter from the gong is already cutting about 1/3 of an inch through the 2x4 on the first one.

We were shooting at a pal's property once and one of the targets was about 20 yards in front of a section of old barbed wire cross fence he had separating one pasture from another.  Sure enough, we go to clean up at the end of the day and one of our shots had managed to snip the lower wire of that fence right right in half.  Couldn't have done that in a million years trying (couldn't see the rusty wire in contrast to the dirt behind it from 20 feet, much less 120 yards), but we managed it.

What do you fill the milk jugs with?  Is it blue food coloring or is the plastic naturally blue like that?  What colors do you find contrast the best off the white snow background?

You can hit the strangest things when you're not trying.
I was shooting cardboard targets once and all of a sudden a 2 inch sapling fell over in the back stop. 

On sunny days the blue, green and red work fine under 100yds.  Yellow doesnt show as well as you think. No matter how much you put in.

What do you mean food coloring?   What color is milk where you live?
