I need help identifying an SKS stock. When I first saw it, I assumed it was made of fiberglass.
After receiving it, I discovered that the stock is made of wood, has the correct SKS shape, and was machined to a high standard.
Is that stock original?

Looks like a mass produced late year Chinese replacement stock to me. (by replacement, I mean it did not start out life on an arsenal issued carbine as it lacks a S/N and shows no signs of ever having one). The inletting around the buttplate tells me it is not a onsey-twosie artisan made stock like you'd get from Lucky Shot or one of the other online stock fab houses.  It is a nice one though, you don't typically see that nice a finish on them.  What firearm are you planning on slapping her on?!

My initial thought was that the stock was made of black exotic hardwood. After careful observation, I discovered a few areas with natural-looking wood. I can only call this a high-precision stock. I've never seen one like this before. I stopped assembling SKS rifles from random parts, so there's no point in using that stock right now. It would be ideal to pair it with the bakelite "Jungle" handguard.

Yeah, RM nailed it. It sure is a beautiful Chinese spiker stock.  8)  The grasping grooves are in the sweet spot, crisp but not sharp to the point of hurting your thumb and fingers.

For the person who has a Type 56 with matching metal but a mismatched or buggered stock, this would be a real find.

One thing I can add from the pics is that it appears to have been made for a long or short collar threaded action as opposed to a pinned barrel action. Also, the bayonet cutout seems wider than normal making me wonder if it was intended for a Paratrooper makeover, but never made it.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

According to the 9" distance, the stock was designed for the threaded barrel.

It looks good with the Russian handguard.
