Back when I was young and foolish,  seven years ago (or maybe yesterday), I took a bubba'd Russian, and bubba'd it some more.

There were still quite a few East German parade stock blanks floating around, so I used some ingenuity, and a lot of grinding, sanding, buffing and refinishing to make a pure fantasy East German parade piece.

The Russian gun already had the high polished receiver cover, bolt handle and bayonet.  But I can take credit for the pimp shine on the stock.

Masterpiece?  Or mutilation?   Both, I reckon.  But dang, it's a looker.

I like it except for the chrome base plate.  To me, it just stands out too much and takes away too much beauty from the stock.  Kind of reminds me of my old racing days where the saying was "if it wont make it run faster, chrome it"!

Yes, I made it out of aluminum, though.

I like it a lot!  Once a rifle is bubba'd, even when you un-bubba it...it still retains some bubba...even if just in thought.  I have a Russian (former bubba) and it is my least favorite of them all.

Yes.  A mortise set came in very handy.  Tough to work with laminated wood.  Much like plywood.

That's just good old German red glue.  There are about six coats of clear shellac.
