Well I've wanted one for a while to keep my Yugo company and the opportunity and the timing finally coincided and I picked myself up a nice Chinese SKS.  A 27 million SN 416 Arsenal.  It appears to be all but unused and the previous owner said it's essentially been sitting in a safe for 25 years and after having bought 1000 rounds of ammo for it meaning to get to using it a few years and realizing that was sitting too he decided to get rid of it.  I haven't fired it yet but I've taken it down and it looks GTG.  So hopefully next weekend....

Nothing super collectible I know but she should be a fun shooter which is what I wanted.  :)

I think that's still really cool. Those 80s military SKSs built after Norinco was unified are not nearly as common as their pre-80 counterparts.

Very nice  thumb1

I dod not know that.  I am always learning something here.   8)   The fact that it came with 1000rds of Wolf should make for a fun time with it.  :)

"Not nearly as common" would be analogous to this gun being a white 2016 Honda Accord while the pre-Norinco guns would be white 2016 Toyota Camrys.  Plenty of each compared to some of the more uncommon Chinese guns out there.

Fit and finish on the 25+ mil (1980 and onward) guns are typically outstanding though as your example shows.  Very nice get right there!  thumb1 (though she looks a bit naked w/o a bayo)

Understood.  :) I knew it was nothing truly collectible which for me is good because I won't feel bad about putting a lot of bullets through it.  If it runs as good as it looks I will be super pleased.

Well I didn't mean they were rare or anything I just meant you don't see 27/28/29 mil guns as often as earlier one on GB. Or at least, I don't. lol.

You'd know better than me, of course.

No, I know what you mean. You're right on with the observation, it's probably something most people don't really think about though. All the 25+ prefix guns are from non /26\ factories. Tens of thousands of carbines produced per year with these as opposed to hundreds of thousands of carbines per year out of early /26\ before they ceased production in the 80's.

I had been paying attention to the later guns, because JimmyCs Precision Degree Rifle is one, and being the only one ever seen, I assumed they were made from the same run of rifles. However, I did get another owner of a PDR email me pics of his (bought it new from NA), and his was an early blade gun. So obviously they weren't made from a specific newer production.

All good info.  I missed the comment earlier about the bayonet.  It doesn't look right to me either.  If you remember what I did to my TimberSmith stock on my Yugo in order to keep the bayonet you get how much it doesn't look right to me.  I might fix that.  At least for pictures.

One thing I am noticing about this versus the Yugo.  It is definitely a lot lighter than the Yugo was even with the original stock and certainly with the TimberSmith.

It may be me but the stock on this feel overall thinner than the original one on my Yugo too.  I can't be sure since I have the other stock on the Yugo right now and I haven't dug out the original for the Yugo since I moved last fall.  I am going to have to dig it out now though because I am curious.

Was it import marked?

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

LOL yes, I made sure to look thoroughly this time.  Although this one is hard to miss.  Being right on the receiver and all.  I even broke out the reading glasses to be sure I actually saw it.
