Hey there,

I was just asked by a developer of a game I'm following and really interested in, what the weights are for the stock, gastube, and magazine of an SKS. They're a Russian company so the SKS in question is for a Russian SKS. I've looked around the house and don't  think I have a scale that will accurately measure the weight of these parts; So, I'm asking any of you out there who may be able to help, if you could assist me in this, I'd be very, very grateful!

The parts in question are the stock, handguard, and standard 10 rd fixed magazine. Now, he wasn't specific about whether the stock was to be weighed with the cleaning kit inside it, so if possible, I'd be grateful for weight of the stock with & without cleaning kit. As for the gastube, I just got an answer for that and I'd like the weight of the gastube without piston inside. And then the magazine. I'll upload the picture he sent to me.

I'd be very thankful for any help I can get with this.

We have some good balances at work. I'll see about digging out my '50 Tula and see if i can get you some numbers later this week. How accurate do you need the measurement?  +/- 1 oz?

I'd be happy to give you measurements down to 0.1g using our balances at work...but I'd get fired if I got caught with so much as a shell casing at work, let alone a part to a firearm  :o  rofl

I know a teacher that takes his stocks to work.  Rubs mineral oil all over them in his office.

Hahaah do you all work at the same place? :P seems like you al have good scales at work. :). I appreciate the offers! But if there is a risk of trouble don't worry about it. I went over to staples yesterday and bought a digital shipping/mail scale. Accurate to a gram. I weighed a penny on it which is supposed to be 2.5g and it said 2g or 3g. I feel like that's accurate enough for the purpose it's needed for, the game in production.

If anyone is interested, I will post the weights here: the SKS in question is a 1953 Tula (liskie refurb). Handguard wasnt weighed with piston. Stock was weighed with cleaning kit inside.

Stock with cleaning kit:  0.777kg

Standard 10 rd fixed magazine:  0.185kg

Gastube (without piston):  0.136kg

:D

Thanks again for the offers to help guys.

Not me...   These other guys are all rocket scientists.  The scales at my work are for tons....
