Picked up my first SKS a short while back, just found this forum while doing a little more research on the rifle so figured I may as well join the party!

Thanks, sure why not LOL! It's a Russian "no date", unissued/unrefurbished rifle that cost me a bit over US$200. It's so nice I've put off shooting it, want to leave it in it's pristine state so I'll pick up another shooter grade model I'm sure.

P.S. added a few more detail pics in the Russian SKS section.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Thanks everyone, a lot of great info (and knowledgeable people) on here - been doing a lot of reading!

Absolutely!  She's a townie from St. John's but I guess I'll keep her!  chuckles1

We used to go back at least once a year in the summer to visit her family and get her a yearly dose of cold ocean, though not as much since her dad passed away and her mom moved to the states.  He lived in Bonavista, nice little town.  There is definitely a different way of life up there than what I grew up with here in the desert southwest!  I've never seen so manylakes and so much water in my entire life!  :o

Townies are fine...in their own way, I'm a baywop LOL. Lived in St.John's for the past 20 years though and just recently retired and moved back home to a small town on the south coast. Yes things are a bit different here, but the hunting and fishing is great!

St. John's is a beautiful city and area.  Attended a conference there....12 years ago?!...had a free day in the middle of the 7 day conference and I rode a rental bike down the coast a few miles then across the peninsula, out to Bell Island and back.  Great scenery!

Place has it's moments...when it's not snowing, raining, or foggy LOL! Glad you enjoyed the trip!
