I took the opportunity of the Christmas sale at Southern Ohio Gun to fill in 3 missing slots in my early Type 56 collection, a /26\ 6 digit, 2 mil and 3 mil.  I now have matching examples for (bottom to top): "ghost", 6 digit /26\, 2 mil /26\, 3 mil /26\ and a letter series.  The book-ends of the series, a matching Soviet-Sino and 6 mil, may take me a few years/decades  rofl

Hope you enjoy the pics!

P.S. Sorry they're all indoor pics but this is one of those rare real winters in south-central WA  pullhair1  :))

2 Million Series Trench Art. The bluing on this one is about 0-5% outside the wood.

Thanks man! My favorite is still the ghost. I love that stock and the name E. Sota

Excellent Jon!  Are all of them all-matching?  I'm the exact opposite of you, absolutely none of mine are all-matching (because RM has trashy guns!) My 188k ghost has a *very* nice unnumbered replacement stock, my six-digit /26\ with 0% bluing has an albanian replacement stock with an incorrect single hole buttplate, my 2 mil has a reddish true alby stock complete with side swivel, my other 2 mil that I had hoped would be a 3 mil but wasn't) has a beautiful original stock....and a wretched mismatching reciever cover off an E prefix gun.  I wound up just giving up!  chuckles1
(Though I do want a letter and a 7 mil from these batches!!  6 mil would be like hitting the lotto!)

There's been a 6 mil on GB forever now. I even posted about it in the auction section. It's even reasonably priced. I can't believe nobody had bought it yet!

Ahh, I don't mean any old 6 mil. I was thinking of finding a six mil /26\ in the recent imports batch!  dance2

RM, yeah, these are true matching: all visible and not visible serialized metal components and the original Chinese stock. SOG had a really good old batch. They "sold out" a few days after their sale but last time I looked they had inventory again. I don't know if that means they just "released" a certain number and the inventory is still old CAI stock, or if they got a new batch from whoever still has some.

I have a couple of mixmasters too, including my first SKS, "I. Ferko", which is still a favorite  thumb1

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

I decided to juxtapose the '51 Tula (bottom) next to the Ghost which is the Type 56 with the best condition shellac.

You can see the clear contrast between the Qiu wood with its ray fleck (short horizontal dark lines) and the clear birch of the Tula.  The amber shellac of the Chinese vs. the garnet shellac of the Russian is another contrast but the alternating dark and lighter shades is a unifying feature.
