Large non-detachable magazine. (NY legal)

With the Safe act in new york the only way the sks is not an "assalt rifle" is because of its fixed mag.  does anyone know of a fixed magazine i can install in my gun that hold 20 rounds or more.  i know there are a bunch of removable ones on the marked but those make it illegal.

also i know the chineese sks can have a 20 round star mag, is there a way that would work in a russian?

The Chinese 20 round star magazines are your best bet as far as being reliable (and even then I've heard hit or miss stories on them).  They will work in any of the generic flavored SKSs out there including Russian SKS45s.   Your best bet to find them is eBay and they will run $50 to $80.  Sometimes they can be had for $20 to $30 if the buyer messes up and calls it a 10 rounder in the description (to get past eBays censors against high cap magazines) and fails to mention in the description that it's indeed a Chinese Star 20 rounder.

Didn't NY Safe Act limit semi autos to a certain number of rounds regardless of "assault rifle" status?  I remember reading that the police were not exempted in the first cut that was hastily passed and they were all running around with illegal high cap magazines in their service pistols.  You might double check that portion of the act to make sure a Chinese star 20 will comply with the current law.  Good luck!

The safe act limited semi auto mags to 7, but only detachable mags.  Fixed are all clear

Interesting MP.   This should not be the case.

What year is the SKS45?  Was the mag having issues latching in place up front, getting the trigger group to lock up at back, etc.?

Like RM said...  Only fixed 20rd mag is the chinese star mags.
