Hi all....after looking at the stock on this NVA Sks....I was noticing it had a "texture" into a large portion of it. Almost from it being wrapped in a cloth that was soaked with some sort of chemical....like it was etched. I was looking at some other bring backs tonight and found a Chinese sks with the exact same marks in its stock as well. Have any of you noticed this in other bring backs as well?

If it is truly shellac.. shellac can soften and deform in temperatures around 110-120, the higher temp, the softer it gets. If wrapped in a dark cloth and left in the summer sun, it's possible it softened and took on the texture of it's wrapping.
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I said I was an addict........I didn't say I had a problem

High temps in Vietnam???  lol......Sounds legit to me. I'll keep looking for other BB's with these marks. I wish I could share what this thing smells like....good grief.

Looks like canvas seabag print to me.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

I thought it looked like a seabag as well....or a sandbag maybe?

Sandbags of that time were more of a hairy burlap, or a finer cloth.  Todays  is more of a flat nylon weave.
