Hi and thanks for letting me in the door ;)  I am a new member as of today.  I have owned a few Russian SKS for many years but haven't had many others.  I do a lot of horse trading, so the ones I did run into I usually sold before I came home.

This time it's a bit different.  Came into a package deal on an estate.  There are 5 total, 2 of them are Chinese which is why I ended up here.

I will post up the pics and let you guys tell me what you think.  I looked through most of the topics on the page here, not sure if we are supposed to present the info in a certain format but I will match another post as best I can:

Barrel Lug: Long
Battle Sight on RSL: П
Bayonet Type: Spike
Bayonet Lug: Early, Screw style bayonet
Bolt Carrier: Early, Cutout
Gas Tube: 1 Piece
Gas Block: Early machined
Receiver Cover Takedown: Early Lever
Rear Sight Block: Early
Serial Number: 8,001,067
S/N Components: Large Font Stock, Last 5 of serial
Stock Swivel: Bottom
Trigger Group Type: Early Milled

Here are the pics:

Dang, that's a honey of a '63  8)  thumb1

You certainly don't need to post all of the information that way but it is nice of you to do so.

I thought it was a '64, as I looked it up on the Jyooper site and it said 8 + 56 = 64.  Is that incorrect?

Yes...that's incorrect. That is old school theory that people on the "other sks board" still hold on to.

Check out the "dating the sks" or "what year is my SKS" in the stickys and also on the guide pages. I'm sure running-man or Loose-cannon will be along soon to link you there directly.

Oh, and really nice 8 mil!

Thanks for the replies.  OK, I just found the right info and read through it... I'm new to all this but I totally get the whole "old school theory" thing and how many groups have their head in the sand when new info comes up ;)

So this one is a '63 and my other one appears to be a 1972 as it is a 1,700,000 and has many similarities to the one above, but short threads, cast RSB, etc.

I'm getting ready to put these up for sale... is $500 too much to ask?

Power Surge

That's a bit high IMO. Check out the monthly gunbroker listings we track here in this section for military Chinese, and you'll get a better idea what they go for. Yours looks like a nice matching 8 mil. That's a $350....maybe $400 gun if you get the right buyer.

hi Brian and welcome. good to have you here. very nice. ask what you want, can always go lower.  thumb1
ARMY NAM VET, SO PROUD!

Loose}{Cannon

I would say $400 on the 63 and about $325-350 on the 72.

What arsenal is the 72?

Welcome aboard!

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

The '72 is an Arsenal 636A:

That's a nice one for certain Brian. (welcome to the boards btw)

I'll throw this out there as it *might* affect the value of that gun: your stock is a S/N matching replacement which means your gun is refurb.  The letter series through 10 mil /26\s all have side swivels and the stock acceptance mark is typically a number enclosed in a triangle on the left side, somewhat near the receiver S/N as in this 10 mil /26\ example:

Regardless of this, it's a nice gun, in excellent shape.  90% of the prospective buyers you find out there won't care one bit about the stock.  $500 is a bit of a stretch, but I don't think $400 is impossible if you find the right buyer.  More then likely it's a $350 gun like LC says though.

Consider these guns that sold last month:

I was just about to post regarding the stock replacement but RM beat me again!

Yeah, most buyers wont know or care... Especially being numbered to the gun, not a big deal.

I really appreciate the help guys, that caught my eye when I was reading through the info on dates and I had no clue if it was a replacement or what.

I live in a place where guns are evil dangerous things, which means prices are sometimes whacked out too!!  I am going to post them up locally and see what I can get.  I have an itch for another revolver so I need to move these on to new homes.

I also have a "I" letter Roooshin SKS which I believe is a 1957 but I just noticed the dang refurb stamp on the butt... I was hoping it was as issued.  I'll post it up in the appropriate section soon.

Thanks again!!
