Pretty neat!  Do you think you can snap a few quick photos of the refurbmark and the stock (especially the stock S/N and crossbolt areas) so we can see what you truly wound up with?

At $500 + $30 shipping + transfer fees into it, you did *not* pay too much IMHO.  It appears from the auction photos to be a pretty nice clean gun.  thumb1

513111357   Russian SKS Matching serial Numbers 7.62x39   1   $500.00    1957   Tula   Uncertain   Good   ЛP1816_И   This is one of those ones that could easily be an as issued letter И gun with the ruby laminate stock.  Not sure the stock has enough red in it, but with only 4 photos, I guess the world will never know.

I bought this one.  Took a risk but it arrived with a diamond refurb mark on the receiver.  Other than that it was darn nice!!

the stock color looks too light.

I'll take some good pictures as soon as I find my camera battery. In person, the stock is a golden blond not red at all, no inspector stamps at cross bolt or left side and faint diamond refurb stamp on bolt cover.  Honoring for a as issued and lost my gamble.  Still a decent price and Georgeous rifle.

There's no way to tell with any degree of certainty from just four photos in a poor GB listing like this one.  Sometimes the lighting makes all the difference in the world. Most diamonds in the rough that are bought on the cheap are auctions just like this one where someone takes a flier and scores big. Many really nice as-issued guns drop into people's laps from buys just like this one.

Stock is NOT too light for a single coat stock.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.
