Springfield Model of 1922

I'm finding these guys go for a lot of money, 1k$ and upwards, with something missing or bubba'd up they're still pushing 1k$ pretty hard. I don't get it, were production numbers low or are they just that desirable ? I like the look of them real well, they seem like a super-solid trainer but it's hard for me to imagine how the market settles where it's at on these. It seems like there's plenty of them available.

I did learn one really cool feature they have is that part of the M2 upgrade was a headspace adjustable screw. Neat. If somebody has one, I invite you to trot out some pics. Cool old trainers that will be having a big anniversary in a few years, they started in 1926.

That would be cool. There's one at auction soon but I'm expecting it will go beyond my reach before it ever goes on the block. I can post it if anybody is interested.

Brief Summary
a. Model of 1922 Springfield Gallery Practice Rifle. 2,020 made from 1922 to 1924

Most of the original 1922 and 1922 M1s were upgraded to M2s with the M2 bolt. The upgraded 1922s had the letter "A" stamped after the serial number. The upgraded 1922 M1s had the letter "B" stamped after the serial number.

My rifle is a 1922 M1. upgraded to M2 with serial number 4789 B . End of barrel has flaming bomb and date stamp of "12-25"
