What's the story on Triangle-0405 arsenal rifles?

KILLDOZER

Several years ago, I did a trade with a guy via Armslist, getting a clean, complete, all-matching SKS, for a well-worn S&W revolver I had under $200 in. This was my first sks, and up until 2 weeks ago, my ONLY sks!!
It clearly has the triangle-0405 arsenal stamp, followed by the 3 Chinese "type 56" charcters, and then followed by a serial number in the 25 million range. (there is also a capitol "H" arbitrarilly stamped a little past and above the serial numbers). After all that is the tiny "sks 7.62x39 norinco china poly usa atl ga", marking.
Anyway, I was just doing a search on the 0405 stamp, and though info was predictably scarce, I found a couple old threads saying it was very unusual (as in only seen a couple times), and thought I'd run it by the matrix.
Any info is much appreciated.....

Does it look like this 0405?     Its seen less often, but its just another arsenal really.  We don't have many recorded on our list... Can you give us the serial and xx out the last two digits?

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Yep, that's the list I consulted, this stamp is clearly, and without any doubt, identical to the 0405 seen there. The serial # is 250244** . The rifle has a spike bayo, a machined receiver and trigger group, and threaded barrel with (I think) the short collar.
I'd post pics, but I don't possess the necessary technology. I usually go see my brother and have him take pics and e-mail them to me when I need them, which I could do at some point, if you think it would be important, but my above description nails it, I don't think a photo will really add any relevant info.

We understand the pic situation, and they wont be necessary.    Thanks for the serial data...  Ill add it to the list for that arsenal.    thumb1

Laff...   We dont have stickers (yet).   Atleast you have a 1980 build date.    :)

OR....  We could always LIE to you and say all non arsenal 26 guns are a lost-cause in terms of dating because there are no documents.    rofl

Like LC says, no worries about the pics, but if you do find your bro taking some photos for you, it never hurts to have the left side receiver (with a clear shot of the arsenal stamp and S/N), and then various shots of the major features: stock & rear swivel, stock and rear takedown lever, barrel lug, bayonet lug, trigger group, magazine and follower, RSL (rear sight leaf), and the gas tube/gas block. In the future, if we are trying to tie /0405\ to the supply chain, those will help us to know where it goes.

Visual data is always good!  thumb1

Don't you know LC, you simply CAN'T date anything non-/26\ because there's no official Chinese documentation, but it's OBVIOUS (i.e. there doesn't need to be documentation of ANY kind) that ALL /26\ guns follow 1956 + millions = year of manufacture for dating.

I'm getting more and more bitter as time wears on and I hear this ridiculousness. You can only listen to the double standard so much before you start to wonder how much effort it takes to believe, to truly believe, that load of crap those guys are shoveling.

CARBINE

I just recently had a similar thing happen on the other board in the Russian section where they said 1955 was the first year of original laminated stocks but when I ask for a picture to prove it I got ignored and it just felt like I should just swallow what they say as facts and move on, I'm not saying they are wrong but would love to see some proof or at least an explanation why they think the way they do banghead1 banghead2
Sorry for getting off track!!
