Well this was in my lgs and I couldn't pass on it. I paid more than I should have but with the prices on gunbroker+shipping and transfer charges I suppose it wasn't too overpriced.  1953 Tula refurb, BBQ paint but all matching except stock. It's the nicest Russian I have come across so far. I'm pretty happy with it. I'll get better pictures later on.

Yeah, if I found any SKS45 in a shop locally that I could hold in my hands, I'd sure have a hard time putting it  back down.  Nice find  thumb1  Looking forward to more pics  :)

Looks like you got yourself a nice little shooter there Jeepguy!  These days, if you got it for around $450 plus or minus $100 you did quite well.  thumb1

I'm partial to dark laminate stocks myself.  In the bright sun, they are rather striking and I bet this one is no exception.  When will you get to take her out for a test drive?!

I can't believe how many stamps this thing has on it.

Well, the serial number suggests it was an "IO" (ИО) import  :))

Looking good.  Let us know how it shoots when you get it out to the range, or back forty or wherever you lawfully discharge your firearms  :)

Well counting my Chinese "ghost" that makes 2 IO SKS's...more or less.

I was hoping I would get lucky and find out it was an IC gun, it is a CAI import, there is some brown gunk in the cross bolt and it has shellac on the buttplate but that's about it.  Hopefully I can get it out next weekend and shoot it along with the ghost and my Yugo.

Ya got a nice one!

Just to note though, IC's will not be found with BBQ paint, as that was put on Russians for export (I believe)

If anything, which is quite rare in itself, some parts, or much more rare the entire thing, will have a very thin shiny paint on some IC's, almost like a semi-gloss black spray paint. I had it on the gas tube of my 10 mill IC I use to own. Some IC guns have been found with it covering the entire gun though. But, no bbq.

Just a note! Nice Russian  thumb1
