Don’t mind the oily stocks. It’s since been wiped off. Anybody have insight if these are non refurbs?

Not much to add.  Hard to say if they are as-issued without a few more photos, but I'd certainly lean that way based on what I do see.  Nice looking carbines.  Any Izhevsk in that condition will be highly sought after by most collectors.  The '54 Tulas are probably the highest population guns in as-issued condition, but it's still a nice carbine.

Just saw that you have a Chinese M21 0296 Type 56 photobombing your last picture!  chuckles1

3 *very* nice carbines right there.  thumb1

Very nice  8)

Focused straight-on natural light pictures of all the serial numbers and markings would be helpful for an assessment. Based on these few pictures it is possible that they’re as-issued.

What pictures would be helpful? Bolt/carrier, bore/chamber, gas piston?

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Yes, basically all the stamped serial numbers (bolt, bolt carrier, magazine, receiver, stock, trigger group, and rear of the receiver cover).  The EP'd numbers are useful too (extractor, gas piston, gas tube, sometimes the bayonet).

Then some detail shots of the right side of the bolt carrier, the rear receiver cover takedown lever, gas tube takedown lever, the barrel lug, bayonet lug, gas block, and left/right stock @ the crossbolts would likely get us there.

Between the two we would be able to compare fonts, look for odd should't-be-there features, and give you as good an opinion as photos would allow.

Any Russian rifle (or handgun) with the big outlined star is always the Tula factory and the wreaths with the hammer/circle are always Izzy's. :)

Didn’t have a chance to field strip before I was sent off. Got a few quick photos of both. I can get more detail shots when I get home in the weeks ahead.

Your camera likes to focus on the background.

The receiver covers look good with the two-toned original bluing. I brightened the shots of the back of the receiver covers so I could see the numbers and the fonts appear to match. I’d say they’re likely not-refurbished but still can’t say 100%
