Hello from Alaska, Ive owned many SKS's over the years and like a moron sold all of them, so I traded parts and got myself a type 56 from Arsenal 256 the best I can tell, still in plastic and a ton of cosmo.

Welcome to the Files!  Glad to have you here!

Nice looking carbine you have there!  would love to see her all cleaned up.  thumb1

Welcome to the files, glad to have you.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Bacarnal

Welcome from Kentucky/Colorado, PolishX!!! Hope to see more of your Type 56!  Cheers, Bruce Carnal.

Welcome from Washington! Looks good so far. It’s a 15th year (1970). Made at Arsenal 256, as you’ve surmised  thumb1

Selection is rather thin unless you like 750 chinese or $1500 russian SKS that look like bubba got a hold of them. Occasionally you find deals like this one and you have to jump on them. Same thing with AK's really.

I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning.

Yeah, sounds like you're encountering the same crazy inflated prices as the Lower 48. I went to a local 400-table gun show two weeks ago that had two SKS. One Chinese @ $750.00 and one Yugo at $1250.00. (No idea why the big price tag on the Yugo) There's just not much in the way of "deals" on them around here and I'm not hopeful for any time soon. The occasional "found a great deal" story comes around every once in a while, but it's the exception right now.

I can't tell much by your photos but is it nice and as-issued looking overall? I like the ones still in grease and looking like they are fresh from the arsenal!  thumb1
