Welcome to the boards WGW.  As BB has stated in your other post, it's a 12th year carbine from '67.  The "millions" dating theory found on many other sites is not accurate and causes lots of '57 misdiagnoses.

I also agree with BB's assessment of /416\ (and based on our database, /416\ did produce type 56s from year 11 onward), but would like to see the entire arsenal stamp before I gave the thumbs up on that aspect.  Looks like a nice '80's import in a plastic stock.  What's the story on it?

Thanks for the help I have read about the S/N confusion and BB post.
That is a Monte Carlo stock it a little heavy thinking of upgrading to something a little lighter. I have the original stock, I put a Norinco scope assembly on it. Will shoot you some pictures.
Thanks again

Now I'm more confused there is stamped SKI Pomona, CA on it. I have an after market Tri-pod and stock which is made by Combat Exchange. With a Norinco scope and mount  Here's some pictures.

Greasemonkey

KSI....or K-Sports Imports Inc. is the company that imported it from China. Pomona California is where the importer was located at the time of import.
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I said I was an addict........I didn't say I had a problem

Is bayonet lug still intact?

I believe that's how the bipod is attached, BB. There's nothing looping across the top of the barrel so it'd be tough to attach on the nub that's usually left after neutering. Of course, without seeing a good pic of the bayo lug, nothing is absolute in the SKS world! We sure know that, right?

Yes the bayonet lugs are still attached the bipod attaches to the bayonet lugs.
Don't have the bayonet thinking of getting one to complete the rifle I have the original stock

If you've got the original stock and receiver cover, all is good anytime you wanted to return it to its as-issued condition. /416\ is an arsenal known for its quality, and the finish shown in your pics attests to that. Did you keep the original wood upper hand guard? They're rarely numbered but the matching finish goes a long way to maintaining value as a complete, matching as-issued Type 56.

If you're needing a bayonet, Ebay is a good source. Or just ask here and somebody may respond with an extra to sell you. They should be around $20.00 plus a little shipping. Actual cost may vary since I haven't bought one in a while.  thumb1

Cleaning rods are easy to acquire, as well, if you don't still have yours.

Welcome to the 'Files, BTW!

I do have the both stock pieces and the cleaning kit that goes in the stock. I was in the antique business and understand the value of keeping things original as possible.
Bought it in the 80s also in the 80s a Mosin Nagent love them both like shooting the SKS better than  my AR.
Will see if any bayonets for sale here.
Thanks for the info

Hey WGW, welcome to the boards. To reiterate the other's comments, nice set up. Especially since you still have all the OEM parts. I may have an extra bayonet I can let go of when you get to that point. Inventorying my stuff this week and can confirm later in the week. If you are interested.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

WGW

I just ordered a bayonet from Ebay for $50 cheapest I could find out there.
Thanks for the offer appreciated it

Justin Hell

$50?
I hope you didn't order a blade.  That's a steep price even for eBay for a spike...which is what you need.

Greatguns

Yeah, Keng's has them for about $35 on GunBroker

Well I goof up and jumped the gun. Just seen the ones on Gunbroker for $35 + $6.75 s&h
Didn't  get hurt to bad.
Did get a spike. Can't believe the prices in Gunbrokers and saw 2 beat up ones in the gun shop for $650
