Any ideas on what happened to this Russian magazine?

Bought a nice Russian Tula a while back, but the matching mag had this hole in it.  Any idea what they were trying to do?  I got another non-matching mag just to have it look a little better.  It's a shame because it's a nice SKS.

Probably was pinned for/from Canada and drilled out.

That was my line of thinking, but wasn't sure.  Is there a "best" way to fix it?  I have just left it alone so far, but it looks bad.

In Canada we are limited to having a 5 round capacity magazine. Here are examples of that. I would have to agree with Bob_The _Student about this magazine.

I'd buy an unmarked one on eBay in this situation. But that's my personal presence.

Bought another Russian marked one, just to keep it "All Russian" but an marked one would have been just fine.  I didn't look at ebay.

Thanks.

Thanks for the link.  I looked around online and saw some things about Canadian SKS mag limits, so I was thinking that could be it.  Next question is how did it end up way down here?  Lol.

Since you said it matches the rest of the gun, that carbine came across the border without passing through customs, likely in a shipment of personal items that wasn’t thoroughly checked. If this is the case there should be no importer stamp on this carbine.  Russian SKS45s are not (legally) importable into the United States from any source since the implementation of the VRA in ‘94.

My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Exact-a-mundo!

Kinda like bigfoot...rumors abound, but sightings are rare.

I'm sure the VC would have at least put the hole at the lowest point in the mag!  ::) ::) ::)
